The Fes rug is a warm story from the Moroccan city of spices and red rooftops. It is hand woven by craftswomen in the High Atlas mountains from soft sheep wool about 30-40 years ago so it belongs to true vintage rugs created in a single piece.
The pattern is dominated by deep shades of red, terracotta and brown that remind of Moroccan sunsets. The lower edge of the rug is lightened by a cream base with small geometric ornament and colourful mustard, green and orange rhombuses. The high pile creates tactile softness and natural dyes give the colours a living slightly uneven depth that cannot be achieved in mass production.
The 263x155 cm size makes the Fes rug a perfect centre of the composition in a living room, bedroom or creative studio. It works beautifully with linen textiles, wooden furniture, raffia lampshades and baskets, highlighting boho, ethnic or eclectic character of the space.
Small marks of time, slight colour variations and pattern asymmetry are natural features of handmade work and the age of the rug. They are not defects but rather tell a story of travels and life in a Moroccan home.
