Organic Black is a handcrafted lampshade from Indonesia in which fine metal is transformed into a light, almost translucent shell. Thousands of tiny metal loops create an open mesh that allows light to pass freely through its surface. From a distance, the material can appear surprisingly soft and textile-like, while a closer look reveals the complexity of the metal weave.
The defining feature of Organic Black is its deliberately irregular silhouette. The elongated form avoids perfect symmetry: its outline changes gently from top to bottom, widening in places, forming subtle folds and finishing with a free, softly undulating edge. This natural imperfection gives the design its distinctive character. The shape feels closer to an organic shell than to a conventional geometrical lighting structure.
The black finish emphasises the graphic quality of the fine lines without making the lampshade visually heavy. Despite its 60 × 35 cm size, Organic Black retains a remarkable sense of openness, allowing the surrounding space to remain visible through the mesh. In daylight, the intricate weave becomes the main feature, while after dark the light filters through hundreds of tiny openings and reveals the layered structure of the material.
Organic Black is a lighting piece that contributes to the composition of an interior as much as to its illumination.
